BEGBIE UPDATE

Well, what a tour it’s been. Belladrum, ButeFest, Party at the Palace and many more shows along the way. It was great meeting some fantastic bands along the way including WOMPS,Indigo Velvet, The Lapelles and of course many, many more.

This month sees the end of an unreal run here at Begbie HQ. From national AirPlay and Press, to national Festivals, we’ve done it all. Topman playlists to half time football entertainment, we’ve done literally it all. We’d like to thank everyone who came to see us over the tour and all the bands that shared a stage with us.
|
We are now hitting the studio to focus on new material and a new focus for 2017.Keep an eye on the page for updates.
In the meantime, we have one more massive party in the pipeline. We are currently in the process of planning our first ever choose rude event. This event was originally planned for the 2nd but due to the recent tragic loss of Gary Watson, who was to be DJ’ing along side us on the night we feel as if it is more appropriate to postpone the event. This show will like no other you’ve been to before, we can guarentee it.
|
Keep smashing the sound cloud and YouTube views for us. Keep buying and downloading the singles and merch. Keep on keeping on Begbies. We will see yous all in the new year
|
Thank you again, The Begbies.

GARY WATSON

14th of August 1994 - 14th of August 2016

Glasgow. A city indulged by music and populated by a culture obsessed with it. In the heart of that culture was Gary Watson, frontman of EK big hitters, The Lapelles. We had the pleasure of sharing a stagewith The Lapelles a couple of times and every return we were blown away by their increasing intensity, flair and musicianship.

|

Belladrum – Tartan Heart Festival was the last show that the boys played and we were lucky enough to have been on bill earlier in the day. Bevied up and gouting on a party, The Lapelles delivered a set that completely blew us away. “Belts & Braces” was as gut wrenching as the first time I heard it and with regular belters such as “Seventeen”, “Snakehips” and “Grab Life By”, we were completely blown away.Since Gary’s passing, a lot of people have come together to remember him and be there for eachother in the only way we know how – getting the speakers out and blasting The Lapelles everywhere they go!

|

Massive respect goto BABY STRANGE, WHITE, Declan Welsh, The Rockalls and Dead Beet Records for getting together at such a difficult time to perform for Gary and raise money his family – a truly heroic gesture. Not only did they meet their target of £4000 they double’d it & more with a figure of £9325 and rising (Link will be added at the bottom if you wish to donate). We’d like to extend our thoughts and deepest sympathies to Gary’s family as well as Jamie, Jack, Leon and Christopher (The Lapelles).

EP'S/SINGLE REVIEWS

Manners – WOMPS

Utter belter! As said, we caught these boys at Bella and they threw this at us as their second track of the set. The track screams business with Glaswegian romance gripe and intricate guitar lines. In terms of hooks, there’s a barrell load, and by barell loads there’s at least one hook in every section of the song, from intro to outro, a top track for any mood. What’s scary is that the rest of their debut album (Our Fertile Forever) is of a similar accolade and should/must be on your buy list.

Best Boy – Lucia Fontaine

We’re buzzing about Fontaine. Although we’ve not yet bumped into Lucia her tracks are getting us weak at the knees. A grunge/punk anthem, made ever so unique with a fresh style of vocals over the top. Imagine Blondie snorted cocaine with The Undertones and roamed the streets on Harley’s. Lucia seems to be going from strength to strength and with an impressive back log of festival shows this summer we only expect bigger things. Go check this out and her previous single “ Loose my Mind”.

Zurich – SHVLLOWS

The boys are at it again. Choose Rude Record buddies bring you “Zurich”, a track packing with synth-pop escapism and tight packed energy from the off. Expect to hear this track all over the place from Made in Chelsea to your wee sisters bedroom, followed by yer auld mans and then your own. It’s hard to imagine the creators of such an explosive track can be as down to earth as these lads and we expect them to acheive massive things. From Livi to LA, yer boys at CHOOSE RUDE said it here first. Stream it, Buy it, Tweet it.. Listen & Listen again. Out and out Belter.
